BrightWood reach-in closet
”I finally convinced my daughter to let me transform her space,” wrote Erin Desabelle (@the.dessy.dwelling) on Instagram, “and the result is everything.”
Erin’s daughter Liv’s small reach-in closet started out as a cluttered mess. The traditional plank-and-pole system couldn’t accommodate all Liv’s clothing, so she resorted to various bins and cabinets that took up all the floor space.
ClosetMaid’s BrightWood Collection came to the rescue. Erin chose the warm, wood-look Sand finish, with black matte hardware.
Closet System Components
To help Liv’s closet reach its full potential, Erin used the following BrightWood Collection products:
- One 25-inch Tower
- Three 48-inch Shelves
- Three Modern 25-inch x 10-inch Drawers
The BrightWood Collection is available exclusively at Lowe’s Home Improvement. A tower-based system, it’s easy to install and accessorize with doors, drawers, angled shoe shelves and corner shelf units. You can further personalize your storage system to match your decor by selecting the perfect finish (Ash, Frost, Sand or White) and drawer and door style (Modern or Shaker).
Design your BrightWood closetThe Transformation

Before: Liv’s overflowing closet needed an intervention.
Erin described her daughter’s pre-makeover closet “officially the catchall for everything but clothes.” So, she staged an intervention to take it from “a disaster into a dream.” How did she do it? Follow along with her step-by-step transformation:
- Step 1: Clear out the area and strip everything down to the bare walls. Make any necessary repairs to the walls.
- Step 2: Erin hung wallpaper of Liv’s choosing to add personality to the closet. (You could decide to paint instead.)
- Step 3: Install the organization system. Erin built the tower first, ensuring the main frame was level. Then she put the drawers together. “They add so much hidden storage,” she said. To make sure every inch of vertical space was used, Erin trimmed and installed matching shelving and hang rods: two short-hang and one long-hang.
- Step 4: Liv put everything back into her closet in an organized way.

After: Liv’s new BrightWood closet system gives her designated spaces for her shoes, bags, clothes and even her favorite perfume bottles.
“The ‘catchall’ closet era is officially over!” Erin said after the makeover was complete.
