Just as we can feel the heat of summer, so can our closets. We’ve put together a few tips to help ensure your closet stays fresh and cool until the weather changes.
1. Use essential oils.
A great way to naturally refresh your closet’s scent is with essential oils. Either diffuse your favorite fragrance or create your own scented cards that can be hung around the closet or placed within musty drawers.
It’s easy to create your own air fresheners. Just put a few drops of your favorite essential oil on a piece of cardstock and place it in a drawer or suspend it from a hanger. Image Source: Lemons, Lavender, and Laundry
2. Freshen with baking soda.
Baking soda is not only great for refrigerators and freezers, but it can also freshen up your closet space by neutralizing odors in the air caused by shoes, hampers and more. Check out more baking soda tips from The Spruce.
Quick Tip: Remember to keep any baking soda products in a safe spot, away from pets and kids.
3. Dehumidify.
Humidity in the summer is inevitable, but it doesn’t have to feel that way in your closet. If your clothes are starting to smell musty, use a dehumidifier every now and then to pull any extra moisture out of our space.

5. Create proper airflow.
Just like any room in the home, your closet needs to have adequate ventilation. Keep your closet doors open when possible, and let your clothes breath by investing in storage that enhances airflow, such as wire shelving system.
