As the holidays near, we often find ourselves welcoming family members and friends into our home. We eat, laugh and oftentimes stay together. To make your house ready for the holidays, read our five tips on how you can transform your guest bedroom into the perfect place for friends and family.
1. Keep Your Guests Entertained
Fill your holiday visits with local fun for all by creating a collection of activities, such as events and tourist attractions. Don’t forget to include any WiFi passwords or other important information they should have during their stay.
2. Supply the Essentials
Provide your guests with fresh toiletries to ensure they have everything they need to feel comfortable. To keep toiletries organized and make them attractive, try arranging them in a basket, glass jar or a cabinet organizer. Listed below are some supplies we know your overnight visitors will appreciate:
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash
- Deodorant
- Facial wipes
- Lotion
- Hairbrush and hair dryer
- Contact solution
Place extra toiletries in a fabric bin for guests’ use during their stay.
3. Help Keep Holiday Attire Organized
Living out of a suitcase can be tricky, especially around the holidays. Provide hangers to prevent your guests’ clothes from wrinkling. If the guest room closet is full of your own clothing, add a freestanding garment rack to the room. A hamper is a great way to help keep clean and dirty clothes separate.
If you can, clear out space in your guest closet so your visitors can unpack and store their suitcases.
Shop specialty storage4. Provide Clean Linens
Be sure to stock the linen closet with plenty of fresh towels and linens. By doing so, your guests will avoid feeling like a burden when asking you for more.
5. Create an Inviting Mood
Last but not least, the bed is the first thing your guests will see when they walk into your room. Set the mood of their stay by making the bed look comfortable and inviting with extra pillows, throws and blankets. To add a personal touch, create a display tray with some of your guests’ favorites such as:
- Books
- Chocolates
- Candles
- Magazines
- Photos
Fill a bookcase with magazines, books and other materials to help your guests relax and feel at home.
Whatever you decide to add to your tray, make it special to show your guests how much you care about them.
